Just like any other day, the blue sky turn from baby blue to grey to irony white and bright turquoise and now, like a huge blue sapphire gemstone. I let a Prussian Blue colour balloon with a diameter of 12cm go. Go high up to the sky, go across the river, across lanes and roads, in between human races and. Back to me.
It passed by a morning market near the bay. The river water was muddy and smell. Fish bone and flower petals. Plastic bags and empty soda cans. It was tangled by a branch and stopped to remember the black sand at Santorini. A boy climbed up the tree to get it but he was pulled down by a bigger boy when his hand reach the balloon. The journey continue while the two boys were fighting against each other. Brotherhood, the balloon inflate a little. Then it came to a school. It was art class and the students were queuing up to get back their paper work. A girl couldn't find hers and was arguing with her best friend who was holding a drawing of a cornflower blue elephant with white roses. Her friend took her paper and got an A star. Friendship, the balloon inflated. Then it moved on and came to a broken village, broken by the war. Behind the silver concrete wall was a man holding a machine gun. There was some fresh stain on the wall. Blood it seems. And there was a letter in his top left side pocket. A letter from his wife, lying there secretly and silently. Love, it inflated. Then again, it inflated when a student handed his grandmother his graduation cert, when a girl stayed up late at night to finish his homework for him, and he went out searching for the whole day, searching for the girl that left him a letter saying goodbye, a girl crying on a stranger's shoulder in the crowded airport, because she missed her best friend's farewell, and also, when two so-called friends who were punched on the face because she was verbally challenged.
The blue balloon never come back to me in the end. It was too heavy, and too weak. I don't know where it goes, or whether did it burst, but I am recovered, under the deep indigo blue umbrella. In the confined circle, the protected zone.
"Blue is often associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven." Blue is indeed a good colour. But I prefer purple, where light purple shows a feminine side and dark purple shows sadness and mystery.
